Wild Seedlings Kindergarten
At Wild Seedlings Kindergarten, our approach to learning is intentionally gentle, supportive, and developmentally responsive. Designed as a bridge between early childhood programs and more independent learning environments like Rooted Academy, Wild Seedlings offers shorter days, a slower academic pace, and close adult guidance that meets children right where they are. Through this balanced approach, children build confidence and responsibility at an age-appropriate pace while practicing peer collaboration and social problem-solving with nurturing support. By focusing on strong learning habits, emotional readiness, and joyful engagement, Wild Seedlings lays a solid foundation for long-term success and a smooth, confident transition into the next stage of their learning journey.
At Wild Seedlings Kindergarten, children gain confidence, resilience and strong learning habits. Through close adult guidance and a nurturing, age-appropriate environment, students build responsibility, independence, and a genuine love of learning that supports long-term success.
In the 2-Hour Wild Seedlings Session, children gain rich experiences centered on science, nature, and social-emotional growth. Learning is highly hands-on and play-based, with a strong focus on partner work, curiosity, problem-solving, and relationship-building. Children explore seasonal science themes, engage in STEM and outdoor learning, practice communication and cooperation, and build confidence through meaningful, community-centered experiences—without the pressure of extended academic instruction.
In the 3-Hour Wild Seedlings Session, children gain everything included in the 2-hour experience, plus extended time for academic growth. The third hour allows for deeper development of early literacy and math skills, including phonics, writing, vocabulary, number sense, patterns, measurement, and early addition and subtraction. This option is ideal for families seeking a more academically robust kindergarten experience while still maintaining a gentle pace, strong relationships, and joyful learning.
Wild Seedlings Kindergarten is a school-year enrichment program designed for children in their kindergarten year, running from September to mid-December and mid-January through April for a total of 28 weeks. Wild Seedlings Kindergarten has two learning day options available. Either a 2 day/week, 2 hour session or 2 day/week, 3 hour session. Providing these options allows families to choose the experience that best fits their child’s developmental readiness and learning needs.

We use our mission along with the seasons and general scientific concepts that are geared toward each age leveled group to help us determine our themes. We then We create a curriculum using a combination of our own activities combined with activities from other like minded educators to help students accomplish their goals.

Wild Seedlings Kindergarten follows a seasonal, hands-on curriculum that blends science, STEM, social learning, and real-world exploration. Children study topics such as the five senses, signs of fall, seed dispersal, living and non-living things, animal habitats, how animals prepare for winter, weather, and caring for the Earth. Learning also includes garden observations, natural resources, planting, and noticing signs of spring as the year progresses.
STEM and experiential learning are woven throughout the program and may include safe, supervised use of real tools (hammers, nails, drills, sanders, saws, and sawhorses), simple machines like levers, pulleys, and inclines, fire safety education with community visitors, and activities such as archery.
-
This program will never assign homework. However, we encourage you to explore and foster organic discussions and extension activities that arise from your child’s experiences and exposure to various topics covered during Wild Seedlings throughout the year.

When we first began this journey, our mission was simple- to connect children deeply to the natural world. Over time, we’ve seen how this connection opens hearts, sparks wonder, and leads to meaningful conversations about the world around us. As followers of Christ, we recognize that this sense of awe and appreciation for nature naturally connects back to our Creator.
Beginning next year (2026-2027) , we’ll be allowing ourselves to speak openly about our faith when conversations organically lead there, especially when it comes to where the world comes from, who made it, and how the beauties of nature are connected to creation.
We also want to be equally clear that Project Wild Rooted remains open and welcoming to all families. We do not plan on formalizing faith-based instruction but rather children may occasionally encounter casual references much like they would in everyday life. We will not require a statement of faith to participate, and will not have any structured religious instruction.
We believe deeply that loving as Christ loved means welcoming everyone with honesty, grace, and respect. Our hope is to continue fostering a community marked by curiosity, kindness, connection to the natural world, and genuine care for one another. And while our curriculum will remain firmly rooted in hands-on, experiential learning, we will be intentional about allowing opportunities to affirm creation in the years ahead. -
Wild Seedlings will be at our Greene Acres Campus located in Center City, MN.
